Young Farmer Friday takes us deep into Cherry County, where Jaylynn Ravenscroft is back on the ranch near Nenzel—about an hour off the highway, and right where she wants to be.

“I come from a cow-calf operation in the heart of Cherry County and production ag has always been a huge part of my heart,” she said of her family’s Red Angus operation.

Ravenscroft spent three years teaching ag education before returning home full time a little more than two years ago. She says coming back meant learning a whole new level of responsibility.

 “Coming home always sounds super fun—and then you get back and you’re like, oh yeah, I have to understand finances and big picture things. But that’s also the fun part of it too, is learning as you go,” she said.

That teacher’s heart still shows up in her work with Nebraska Farm Bureau. Jaylynn now serves on the Promotion and Engagement Committee, helping connect producers and consumers through agriculture’s story.

She said, “We love what we do. We love raising and producing a high-quality product in a wholesome way, and we love getting to meet and educate consumers.”

And for young producers, she says staying involved matters, even when there’s always work waiting back at the ranch.

 “It’s really hard to be part of those conversations if you’re not at the table. Your voice matters, and Farm Bureau gives producers a great opportunity to have that voice.”
